About Us
Button collecting is a delightful hobby that can quickly consume you. Your collection started out on the corner of a desk and now it takes up a whole room — or house.
We can relate at The National Button Society (NBS). So can our 3,000 members!

Educating, Enjoying and Preserving the Beauty Of Buttons
NBS emphasizes the preservation and study of clothing buttons. Our principal objectives include:
- Promoting educational research
- Exhibitions
- Publishing and dissemination of information about buttons
- Preserving buttons and their history for future generations
Our membership spans four continents, with 39 of the 50 states represented by state and local button clubs. Some states have several button clubs in different state locations. There is a very good chance that a new collector will be able to find other more experienced collectors within a reasonable travel distance.
In addition, several states on the East and West coasts have networked to form regional associations that promote educational activities and annual show events.
Finally, we have a large online button club called ButtonBytes. New and novice collectors can interface with experienced collectors who are always ready to answer questions.
Annual Convention
Enthusiasts from all across the country and abroad attend our National Button Society convention every year. This event brings together collectors to visit an array of dealer booths, attend informational sessions and share their passion.
The convention is usually held in August. We hope everybody comes to see us this year and beyond to check out buttons, get good deals and have fun with fierce competitions.
